• Parenting After Divorce | Claudette Chenevert | Episode 8

  • Parenting after divorce is never easy and the impact can hit hard, especially with our kids. Teenagers especially may act out, exes may clash instead of communicate, or everyone may struggle with the different parenting styles in the two households. Whatever happens, parents just want to make sure their children are okay. Judy Davis and Sandy Fowler help you do that on the Mighty Parenting podcast where they interview The Stepmom Coach, Claudette Chenevert, about the things to watch for as well as tips and strategies for parenting our kids after divorce.

In the 2nd segment during Real Talk, which is also available at MightyParentingTV.com, Judy and Sandy dig into the reality of how connected we are to all of our devices and discuss what that is doing to our every day lives.

A Favorite Quote from the Show:

“Be the person you want your kids to be – even toward your ex”.

High Points From Parenting After Divorce:

During a divorce, things are difficult and our kids acting out can be a reaction to the divorce. Don’t dismiss it, understand what you’re really dealing with.

Each parent and step parent need to spend time with kids and remind them they’re loved.

Every time you interact with your ex you are showing your child how to treat people.

Focus on what’s best for the child:

    • Put aside personal grievances and anger
    • Be a role model
    • Communicate with your ex and any step parents
