A Favorite Quote from the Show:
“When you want to make a change in your life, you need to look at it as a process.”
High Points of Our Conversation About New Year Resolutions:
Judy says she can’t stand New Year resolutions in the traditional sense because they make here feel bad.
The end of the year is a time of reflection, of allowing Judy to identify what she wants to fix in her life.
When you want to make a change in your life, you need to look at it as a process. New Year resolutions are simply making a change in your life.
Failure is an essential element of the process of change. Embracing failure as the path forward can help us make effective change.
When we choose something to focus on in our resolutions we tend to focus on all the things we don’t like about ourselves instead of making them around life satisfaction and what we want to create.
When we look at things holistically, we can make the shift toward the life we want.
If we look at resolutions like talking to ourselves in a mirror and ask ourselves, “Why do I want to make this change?” it helps us hone in on choosing the right thing to work on.
The “Why Game” is a great tool for deciding how to make powerful choices that impact our lives.
Instead of making New Year resolutions, Judy uses a focus word for the upcoming year to keep her on track in improving one area of her life.
Resolutions can be very powerful when it comes from what we need for ourselves.
